قصہ مٹھائیوں کا
Seeing this picture I yearn for PATEESA .. yup that yellow colored mithayi .. oh man. oh Allah actually I should say.
I’m not much a fan of sweets and mithayis but there are few things so tempting that saying NO is itself a big no-no
Pateesas one of ‘em
I remember in my younger years when I was probably 9 or something, on my cozin’s wedding I saw this small mithayi ka dabba full of patessas. I think it’d be half kg pack. Yours truly ate that ALL. heheh … and yeah I made sure no one knows that I’m eating it
(no stealing mind you
I was just enjoying evening meal there in the kitchen alone when that dabba was placed there by some aunty
Lucky me
) I can still do that …
I hate it when people g
ive mixed mithayi packets with no pateesa in it. If not pateesa .. atleast place a good krucnhy baloo shahi in it
Have you ever tried roasting Baloo Shahi in microwave for a min .. it becomes warm and a bit crispy. Do give it a try
Barfi was never my thing … but the whole thing changed in 2005. When I visited India. After eating Kajoo ki Barfi … I started actually liking it too … ladoo and gulab jaman are mood dependant

I dont know if Pheniyaan comes in this category of Mithayis or not … a typical punjabi delicacy. I always find myself buying a pack of it in Ramadhan. After rauza’s aftari … dipping lots of it in tea and drinking, sipping and eating isnearly divine. I hope Allah’s going to provide me with some pheniyaan up there too .. Inshah Allah.
And the comments below compelled me to post this white crunchy pateesa too (for people who are not aware of this). Its equally delicious. Its white and thready. The one below I bought from Dhaka Sweet House in F-10 Islamabad. I remember there used to be an elderly man who’d carry a platter full of pateesas and will sell it in our area in afternoons and evenings. He was a govt servant and used to do this as a part-time thing in evenings. I’m speaking of that golden time when people knew about their surroundings. A decade and half back. Whenever I used to hear his crispy shreiky voice outside calling Pateeeeeeeeesaaaaa ; I’ll ask ami to give me a rupee or two and would be out in matter of seconds to enjoy the mputh-savouring Pateesa.
Those were the days.
ps: I did find this white Pateesa in Tesco here
I’m going to bring it down again this weekend Inshah Allah

Yea, well if you put such a pretty picture, anyone would yearn for those mithais, and I actually don’t like sweets much at all.
yaar mujhey woh safaid wala pateesa aalaa lagta hai
Yep, I agree with Ubaid, that flaky white pateesa is mazaaaayydar!!
it is strange that i have never been fond of patisa though all things that taste sweet are my weakness. have u ever tried traditional patisa from a place around mianwali.
anyways, try amrati and gond ki barfi too. i am afraid there is not much variety available in islamabad. try fresco and kaka of rawalpindi and if nirala has an outlet in islamabad or pindi, do pay them a visit. i am sure that will be rewarding.

along with gulab jaman
Oh, nice pictures =)
And yes, I’ve tried that crispy, warm baloo shahi
[Why do I feel like calling it Bhaloo Shahi?]
Yayyy!! We got white pateesa in the post too!!
And yep, Lahore’s Lal Kho’s Baloo Shahi is the best!! I like it cool (straight out of fridge) but my parents like it microwaved for exactly just 20 secs!!
P.S. Bhook lag gaiyee with all this talk of mithayi!!
Getting pateesa from TESCO…tsk tsk…and eik aur dafa tsk
Go get it from real mithaayee dukaan and enjoy it…get jalebiyan too
ite u love baloo shahi too, and lal khoo is one of my friends so we get it free all the time
and i love gulab jaman too
!!! and butt key garam garam ghulab jaman with sheera are the bestttttt!!
The only mithai I like is barfi, and that Indian barfi, we get that a lot here in Dubai, just looooooooove it. Oh yea, or gulab janum.
Err.. I meant gulab jamun.
It’s just frustrating… utterly frustrating…
You know why I am saying this…
I can feel the taste of Pateesa (my kamzori) and Haleem in my mouth right now.
Ahh….
How come you din’t even mention Chum Chum…i luvvv that mithai!
