Need of time!
Assalam-o-alaykum w.w.!
As time is passing by, the details of things needed in affected areas is opening up. So, apart from the things I’ve posted before , I’m updating and detailing the things needed. These things can be sent by people from all over Pakistan through many relief camps established in many cities of Pakistan. People from middle east can also send such things but it would be preferred if overseas Pakistanis send in cash through their embassies and through the branches of Pakistani banks in their countries.
As food (edibles), please collect and send items like
- Biscuits … not chocolate or cream biscuits but biscuits like gala with nutritional content in it.
- Canned food … but please confirm that it’s not expired
- Dry nuts and dates
- Pita bread can also be given
- Milk cartons … previously dry milk were also suggested but as water is needed for it, so it’s preferred that milk cartons like that of Milk Pak, Haleeb, Nurpur, which comes in quarter liter size. They are easy to even throw off from planes. It would be enough to feed a child’s appetite for at least half a day. Liter size packs have chances of bursting, so quarter sized packs are preferred.
Then, surgical appliances and medicinal aid is very much in fact highly needed like
- Sutures that is surgical threads for stitching
- Rods and plates needed for fractures … are highly needed
- Intravenous antibiotics, injections, canula (for adults and butterfly canula for children)
- Glucose, fast nourishing and energetic diets
- Dettol … cotton and spirit swabs
Then, if you are working in a relief camp, you can manage to get some things like
- Shovels … belchay and kudalein
- Torches with batteries
- Small diesel generators with fuel if possible
- Water proof tents
I was watching TV and many views spread on the blogs too. People are constantly criticizing govt. and army that they are not helping us, they are not providing us with any relief. Yes, I can understand the anger of a father in a devastated land, waiting for help to rescue his child buried in the debris, but this does not mean that they are not working. Still, access to every little town and village is not opened up. There is rain, hailstorms, mud and land slides, please try to understand their problems too.
The helicopters, choppers and carriage carrying planes are limited, now some aid has finally arrived in this regard too. Their premium target was to transport injured to hospitals in cities. So, please focus yourself on the relief and on collecting cash for transportations … Inshah Allah, with Allah’s mercies and blessings all villages and towns would be rescued. Do not loose hope and keep praying to Allah, he will help.
Keep praying that many more people still buried are rescued, and that they survive. A whole generation of Azad Kashmir and part of NWFP is almost finished. Our prayers can do a lot, please keep on asking him for help and mercy, keep on doing Astaghfar.
Many more tragic stories are coming up, making your heart and eyes all wet with the misery. I visited Balakot, Abbotabad, Naran, Kaghan just 2-3 months back … and now seeing everything ruined, the happy faces I saw and met in my visit … I don’t know if they are alive. I was just seeing a hanging bridge on river Kunhar in television, it’s broken now and hanging in pieces; and I’m seeing my picture on it taken few months back.
Astagfirullah e Rabii min kulay zanbin wa atoob o alayhee!
Wassalam and prove that you are a part of an alive nation, our brethren needs us!
