Me & My city!

Assalam-o-alaykum w.w.!

If I look back into (almost not completely ^_^) 22 years of my life … and if I think about Islamabad’s role in these years, I can rank it as one of the beloved possession of my life. Well, that I’m saying truly, in case you’ll start thinking otherwise.

Though, there were days when I used to go to Lahore and it used to fascinate me a lot. But then as I grew, my love for the serenity of the city, the beauty of Islamabad’s autumns and springs, the shivering days and nights of December and January, the humid and hot June and July … grew and then there was no stopping for this ever-increasing love.

There were times in few years back, when my family wanted to shift to Lahore and I was the biggest NO vote … I simply just can’t live or maybe don’t want to live at any place but Islamabad.

People coming from the bustling cities of Lahore and Karachi feels that it’s the city of dead … where lights are turned off after ten in the night … the markets start closing by ten …! But then what’s the big deal … what’s the charm in the all-rushed up … jammed roads of Lahore … !

Not many years back, in a cold night of 2001, we were some 22 cousins and we roamed in the empty roads of Islamabad to see a single place from where we can drink coffee, if not more … the only living things found on the roads were the barking dogs … well, at last by 2 in the night, we went off for Peshawar more and there we found a pan shop open … so we all enjoyed our coffee sips in that shivering night … me, my sis and one of my cousins who’s also Islooitte were defending our beloved city …!

In Islamabad, even if you’ve driven 25 kms from one place to another … you won’t feel tired … maybe your nerves would relax a bit … that’s what a city should aim on!

Islamabad is the city that gives you the beauty of hills, the serene Rawal lake contributing even more to its splendor … easy access to Pakistan’s paradise and to the rushed major cities as well … !

Islamabad is not a city to me … It’s a feeling … it’s the emotion of love … you have to feel it truly to be called a true Islooitte!

Ciao!

P.S: Please don’t laugh after my emotional melodrama ;-)

Tell you what. I get the same feeling when I think, feel, live my city Wah Cantt. I often go to Islamabad. Wah has many similarities with Islamabad and more. Wah has shivering winters and scorching summers and lovely springs and sad autumns.

Whenever I go to Islamabad, it strikingly reminds me of my own city. Honestly, without any bias, I think that Wah is more serene than Islamabad. Islamabad is beautiful for sure but only from outside. Otherwise it is soulless. Wah is not only pretty from outside but also has got an inivisible bond between the people.

The distance between Wah and Islamabad is just 35km.

Wah is an optimized version of Islamabad.
