Asma – you are DEAD!

Assalam o alaykum w.w.!

Just two days …. Almost … left for the blessed month of Ramadhan … I always love this fasting season … but this year I’m a lil’ bit worried not because of the month but because of my schedules …. and no off saturdays :(

Attention …. the content ahead can be very nutty so beware … telling my bad habits … khair …. So … Every Year I would enjoy ramadhan by rising some 10 minutes before sahri … make it 15 … would offer nafals and then would finish off my paratha and anda (I cant think of sahri without these two and…) tea ofcourse in 5 minutes … aur phir mazzay say namaaz … dil kiyya tu bartan bhi dho diyyay warna bahan tu hay naa … and if your beloved mom’s there … tu kiya gham hay …!

After ami in 2004 the ramadhan was dreadful … missed her so soo sooo much …. But still faree bhi thi so it was OK …. The ramadhan last year was not so bad coz I was doing internship … and it was not very hectic … managed things … but missed faree a lot since she was off after her marriage … and I really hated the parathas I made … imran bhai can make better paratha and abu even better ….. asma …. *giving flaky looks to myself*

Now this year I’m stuck in so much … first I was happy that timings from 8 to 3 looks good enough …. But it’s still in doldrums … MD suggesting 9 to 5 as usual … *wiping my tears*  now I’m thinking since it takes almost 20 minutes for me to make one paratha … and that’s a must so two means some 30-35 minutes … I’ve to rise at 3:45  …. After sahri … in wrapping up things and namaaz quran 7 would be done …. Now in such short span you can’t even sleep …. Coming back at 5 … though abu usually makes up most of things for aftari as last year but still I feel very bad if he’s doing the things … so after that a duffer girl comes for tutoring … another 1.5 hours gone …. After that I’m up to some free lance work … and even if not that I always have bundles of “necessary” things to do …. !

And what about your bad habits ….asma ????

Before 2:30 to 3 in the morning I can’t sleep ….. now girly mend your ways or you are dead by Eid …!

Any bano kay tautkay … that someone can suggest for me???

And no saayi … no faree … no imran  bhai … this Eid would be total failure … me … abu … and my mom’s love for me …!

I can’t even imagine to eat parathas in sehri. They make me puke.

Nice to read all of your schedual for Ramadan. I am sorry for your mom again. If she would have been there with you, i think you would count you the luckiest girl in the world. anyways about your sehri (Paratha & Anda) its better than mine (keep it up). Today its first day of holy ramadan in Kuwait but in my sehar i ate just quarter piece of “tandoori roti & Thora dahi” mere liye yahan mom aur dad nahi hain (Pakistan main hain) so i have to manage all for me & my khadoos boss said that our duty timings will be from 10:00am to 4 pm & then from 8pm to 10 pm. my room is very far from my office almost 1:30hrs distance. so no time for iftar at home. i am here at office & waiting for iftar time. agar app ka ghar mere ghar ke pass hota to my sister could help you to cook something for iftar but no worries. My mom doesnt cook now because my younger sisters do all the work but my dad always try to make something for us at home like “pakoras, dahi bhale & chatni mint wali” very tasty. oppppps you have no time & i have written a post instead of a comment. hope you will enjoy this comment cum post. hehehe :)

“Necessity is the mother of invention.”

I am sure you’ll find a way to manage it all.

I lived in a hostel, far away from home (about 1000km), in 1997-99, in order to complete my master’s degree.

During Ramzan, we (i.e. the students living in the hostel) asked the mess contractor to make extra andaa-paraanthaas after dinner, which were then stored in casseroles in the pantry, so that our Muslim friends (There were Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims as well as Christians, amongst us.) could eat these at the time of Sehri.

At the time of Iftar, of course, a variety of food stuff was available at the market near the hostel.

Now, does that give you an idea? You might actually want to make your paraanthaas before you go to sleep at night and perhaps store them in a ‘hot-case’. Rustling up an omelette or two shouldn’t take long, I am sure, and could very well be done in the morning.

Ah, girls’ life! It’s so easy for boys. Just wake up, (with a few bad names for the person trying to wake you up from sweet dreams), go to kitchen, eat, come back and sleep.

Well, that’s how we do it in hostel here at our college. :)

Hmmm, but I can have an idea of the sort of problems you might face. Back then when I was at home, even though all the cooking and washing stuff was to be taken for granted by boys, but it always was a hectic job for mom and sisters.

Best of luck, and happy ramazan.

Life will go on one way or the other. What can a man do but to hide from the bitter realities and find happiness in petty things. But then, there is a God and he does justice…
So keep going and one day, there will be happiness again…
