Wedding Extravaganza & Punjabis Rock :>

Bangles …!

Assalam o alaykum w..w!

Gap between chotti to barri eid is celebrated as a wedding season as if after that a ban would be imposed so hurry up … book every weekend … :> Aaah … so that was the case I’m attending wedding sort of functions for last two weeks … thankfully no new wedding until December’s mid … sometimes you enjoy a wedding kind of function to an extrme and sometimes you become a total-gone case …!

And when I say Punjabis Rock … It’s a FACT … I’m no racist or nationalist but can you imagine a wedding without a Punjabi song … hmmm huh huh huh ??? :P

This picture was taken at my loveliest friend’s sis’ dholki … (I went there in such an hurry that I forgot my chooriyaan … asmu lend me hers .. luv ya) … well she had nikah this weekend not wedding … It came as a complete surprise since she’s my friend’s younger sis and she’s (and us) are still in queue … lolz … dholki was on Thursday though I screamed a lot at both my friend and chotti sis of hers kay wrking days hiii millay thay weyah ki tiyariyon kay liyay and blah blah but then I was very excited and happy for her too … so I came back from office at around Isha’s time and got ready in less than 20 minutes for dholki and taraah was at our place … she and asmuuu did a good job in setting things … we met like long lost souls … though not getting time to have my mehndi ON was one miserable thought (I still have mehndi cone by my monitor) anyways I took so many pictures and showed off my new camera too … most interesting thing was GOSH I sung songs after such a long time … well when was the last time 2 yrs back at my sis’ wedding I guess … and I love singing wedding songs … aur mujhay gaanay bhool hi gayay thay abb tu warna there was a time jab har shaadi ka gaana fur fur yaad hota tha … since me and uz are fan of tappays … they are so wonderful I was thinking of writing tappay as a post too … lolz but then I shyed off … ;) we three sang those two with quite emotions put into it …

“roti uttay boti hay … Lokaa’an day weyah honday … saadi qismat khotti aye” AND

“thaali wich qeema aye … tussi bhethay sarday rawo … saada parson walima aye” :D

Then that ballay ballay song … the new babies (well all young gals of 14-15 were looking like babies growing up) were going all crazy for latest Indian songs even that dhoom dhoom and we joined in the elderly bunch … jo maza Punjabi puranay traditional gaanay gaanay may hay who kissi aur may kahan :)

Wishing you my sweetheart happy … joyous and blessed life ahead …!

Uff Fajar time’s almost here … I should go … the weather’s gone BONE CHILLING in Islamabad … with heater on I’m watching begum nawazish ali … so I should hurry off … Saturday nights are the most cherished nights … I can stay awake to the fullest of my heart … Sunday ko aglay din jaanay ki bezaari hoti hay aur Friday ko I’m usually so tired kay jaaga hi nahi jaata … and today’s my mom and dad’s wedding annv .. we used to celebrate it such lively … would dine out or arrange something … I love u ama and abba … wish ama was here … things may have been different …!

Rest laterz ….!

Adieu ..!

p.s: Pic acchi hay naa :”)

OK, you guys are having too much fun and everyone has a right to be jealous. Talking of “babies” when we were growing up as babies we looked forward to being “buzurg” and to tell everyone off like our buzurgs did. Alas the last things babies nowadays are interested in is what buzurgs say. Oh well…:)

How is dhoom dhoom an Indian song, just because there are two words of Hindi in it (or may be I have heard the wrong one)? :) Indians can’t do anything of their own anymore? :)

SajidNovember 26th, 2006 at 7:57 pm

Yeah these “mutiar’s” hands look nice…but I can’t understand the Punjabi songs that much. Well, it looks like to be I have to learn Punjabi songs to enjoy a wedding. What about this if you post a tutorial about punjabi songs every week. ;)

Let him have the choorian so he can say “main naiN chooriaN pehan rakheeN haiN” as opposed to “main naiN koi chooriaN pehan rakheeN haiN kia”? ;)

Sort of equality of sorts.

Sajid IqbalNovember 27th, 2006 at 11:18 am

AdnanNovember 27th, 2006 at 9:58 pm

1. Wedding functions are boring than chemistry lecture.
2. Tappays are so funny. Who wrote those btw?

YahyaNovember 27th, 2006 at 9:59 pm

Oh, the perils of communicating in a foreign language. Now I am an anti-feminist. Oh well it could have been worst…may be.

AsmaNovember 28th, 2006 at 12:36 am

Adnan Yah u r rite … Shaadis are fun if you get to have real FUN with friends and sibs … otherwise boring … and tappay well yah tu barray puranay hain patta nahi kahan say niklay haan … mujhay yaad hain :P

Tom CruseNovember 28th, 2006 at 11:28 am

Yes Sidhusaaheb is correct in saying…

“Sidhusaaheb tu’ada shukriyaa … uff meri punjabi bas aisi wesii hi hay … ganaon ki had tak theek hay :$”

but you know why….???
because they are Panjj Aaybi (having five defects….) in them.

I’ll explain those later….
see you Panjj Aaybiss…..

It’s still not too late to learn Punjabi. Never is! It’s such a beautiful language. Isn’t it?

Best wishes! :)

SidhusaahebNovember 29th, 2006 at 2:28 pm

@Tom Cruse: Thanks for seconding me!

I am also curious about the ‘Punj Aaybs’. Please do tell us more. :)

I also feel sad when young people don’t know their own language as well as they know other languages.
