Muhabbat Abb Nahi Hogi …

کُج انج وی واہواں اوکھیاں سَن
کُج گَل وِچ غم دا طوق وی سی
کُج شہر دے لوک وی ظالَم سَن
کُج سانوں مَرن دا شوق وی سی

I remember I came to know of these few verses years back (I was in 7th – 8th then) through my sis’ poetry diary … and ever since somehow I feel like falling in love it whenever it crosses my mind … Munir Niazi died today … May his soul rest in peace … his poetry was just unavoidable for me … whether urdu or punjabi … lovely thoughts and words … !!!

So … Muhabbat abb nahi hoggi – yah khuch din baad may hoggi — guzar jayein gay jab YAH din … yah unki yaad may hoggi …..!

Felt very sad when I came to know about demise of such a wonderfull poet. Few moments back happened to watch his interview on PTV. We will remember him for ages to come!

“Kujh shehr de lok vi zaalim san
Kujh saanu maran daa shauk vi si”

Let me tell you about where I heard this couplet the last time (which was also the first time!), before reading it on this blog post.

Recently, soon after the Champions Trophy cricket tournament, Imran Khan was in India. He was invited by the NDTV 24×7 English news channel to appear on several different shows, which he did, of course.

During one such appearance, on a talk-show called ‘Cricket Controversies’, he was also joined by Indian ex-cricketers Navjot Singh Sidhu and Ajay Jadeja (both of whom are regulars on that show) along with several members of the public. Imran recited this couplet during that show, after accepting a special request made by Sidhu. Sidhu remembered that Imran had quoted this very piece of poetry during a match that both Sidhu and Imran had played, when one of Imran’s team-mates had got out after making what Imran considered a rather silly mistake! :)

May the Almighty grant eternal peace to Niazi sa’ab’s soul!
