Why didn’t I vote!

Ask people around and they have their own reasons. Some were not willing enough to waste their time around. Some didn’t vote because Imran Khan boycotted the elections (its the urban educated population I’m talking about). Still some went to the polling booths just to waste the ballot paper (barra teer maara hay …)

My reasons for not voting surrounds none of the above reasons. Thanks to the religious discrimination prevalent in Pakistan. They talk about Joint Electorate yet two voter lists exist, one for all faiths and one for ahmadis. The subdivision of electorate was started by Zia, shed by Musharraf in 2002 when allowed everyone to vote for muslim candidates.

As Reuters reports and represents the sentiments of Ahmadi Muslims:

The voter forms provided by the Election Commission of Pakistan blatantly includes a column for religion of the voter, a maneuver specifically designed to coerce Ahmadis to declare their disassociation with the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW), which no Ahmadi can envision.

I can hereby only pray fr my motherland. may it get leaders who can be tolerant enough to let it move towards prosperity (Ameen)

More on it. Asia News have something to share too.

There’s this song by Sarah McLachlan, “Dear God”. It’s sort of like Iqbals Shikwa, only much ruder. I can’t endorse the song, but this part of it might say something:

“And all the people that you made in your image,
See them fighting in the street
‘Cause they can’t make opinions meet
About God”

In my previous comment, I was gonna add that this post was going to be one with the least number of comments. It would’ve been more dramatic if I had written this then :P

BTW, what’s the difference between those who didn’t go to vote because Imran Khan boycotted, and those who did go to vote, but wasted it, because Imran Khan boycotted? What makes the former “Urban Educated”, and the later the target of the sarcasm? :P

One of my friend once said to me that sitcoms are stupid. I thought otherwise, saying they make us more open about our stupid day to day mistakes and actually helps us enjoy them instead of feeling ashamed.

Okay, may be I quoted the above here because I think the first comment of mine was stupid, which I kind of laughed out at later.

Ummm, either I didn’t understand your point about wasting the vote, or I just don’t agree with it. I am inclined towards the later. :P

Or may be I didn’t decipher the phrase “bad increasing rapport” correctly.

May be I am doubting myself nowadays too much. May be it is willingly. :P May be I am just doing it again.
