Dim Highlights

Posted by mE on Jul 29, 2008

It was a busy week in terms of London jalsa on MTA. Stuck to it 3 days long, was so much fun. I planned to visit UK this year but alas winds were not in my favor. Probably next year then.

Thought of making brownies coz thats what I was yearning for one full week. AT last made it on sunday late eve. Had to go to an uncle’s place so made for them and a smaller one for my own highness. Was good enough … need to put more butter next time. That reminds me of the calories. Shucks. Why every good thing should be calories loaded. I need to loose 25 lbs flat. Shucks even more :\ No more cakes, no more fuzzy drinks. I Hope hope hope. And loads of water. If I’ll be sent in Sahara I may die of hunger but not thirst I’m sure. If deathstalker comes in my way first, probably it’ll win. Khair.

I’m hanging on with one or two chores for past few weeks … should complete now. Have to work on the pending newsletter too. Were unable to publish last month’s and good God its already 29th. Why time flies when it should not and stays when it should. Feels like loosing grip on it day-by-day. On top of it, the DSL’s playing funny games at home :/

BTW, did you like the new look of facebook. Its pretty ok I guess. Not so good not so bad. By the end of this year, I’ll definitely buy a DSLR and a laptop. DSLR can’t live without. Laptop mobility I’ll be needing eventually.

Not to forget my office is making me freaking crazy. They can afford 250 PCS on UPS but they cant afford 50 fans on UPS. SO when lite goes off in the building for 2-3 hrs in 9-6 spans. All we are left with exhaustion, lack of ventilation and Hotness around. And yeah ON pcs. Freaking hell. Yesterday by COB I was angry and was near to faint. Everyone here complains but no one has guts to speak for fear of unknown. Here everyone loves to complain BUT no one would care to speak and will suffer. They deserve goons like Zardari ruling them and looting them. We are getting what we deserve. Stands true for whole Pakistan. We suffer, we complain and then just sit around saying What can I Do. Khair what I’ll do from today is will shut my pc off and will switch on the fan. By hook or crook. The admin/management has nothing but fake assurances to suppress you.

And this freaking mehngaaayi is making me nuts. Reminds me of a sms I got a few days back.

“Money can’t buy happiness  But somehow it more comfortable to cry in a  BMW than on a bicycle”.

Wow … I’m feeling better now :)

Alhamdolillah: a Random Note

Posted by mE on Jul 27, 2008

A common tradition, socially and religiously, here is to say Inna lillah e wa inna alayhe rajeyoon (Surely Everything belongs to Allah and will return to Him ) when we hear of someone’s demise.

I heard that in Saudia tradition is a bit different. In there when someone passes away they say “Allah Yurhamo and Alhamdolillah “.
The first one is a prayer that means: May Allah have mercy (raham) on the soul that passed away.

The second one appeared stranger to me. People will kill you by their looks if you say anything like Alhamdolillah when someone dies in here. Offending by all means in here.  But when I thought on these lines how beautiful it is.  Alhamdolillah that we had this person’s presence in our lives…for all the wonderful things and colors they brought to us…for all their caring and concern he/she was the source of. Alhamdolillah that Allah blessed his/her amongst us :`)

I thoroughly loved the Alhamdolillah thing. Definitely Inna Lillah e wa inna Alayhe rajeyoon but yes Many Many Thanks to Allah, Alhamdolillah, too for sending the soul in us.

Oh Allah

Of Weddings and Liners

Posted by mE on Jul 20, 2008

At times I write my post following the top to bottom approach. First the title and then the post occurs. So lets see if mighty Liners can get some place here or not :)

Since past few years I’ve grown this interest in attending weddings and mehndis.  probably the major reason is I dont tend to get much time in applying all that make up, wearing heels and all that lush push-ness. The perfect liners and coats of mascara … and every time the same whinings that I’ve forgotten to walk straight in heels (as if I ever knew :P).

Transition: 2007 to 2008 In summers the very low percentage of weddings in Islamabad tends to make me cry for one even more. This was the wedding of a colleague … so apart from mehndi I decided to go on wedding too. None of my other colleagues came though coz of their own reasons and here m dad was more than willing to kick me out. Yes cricket was on and he can see uninterrupted by moiself.  Khair when I reached the hotel art around 10:20, the place was quite crowded with no baraat in sight. To my amazement, it was a mix gathering kind of arrangement on round tables. Ahh :/

Khair, I politely asked two ladies (separately) if the seat on their table is vacant. The NO came.  Arghing inside … I didnt want to go at back of the hall coz it was largely male dominated so I eyed around yet again and found a table with two seats empty. This time I didnt ask and sat ;-) Wasn’t reserved either :> I hate covering my head on shaadis :S ayween banda itna tiyar ho .. khair had no choice but to wrap it tightly around. Eying around …  saw two kids (gal and boy) of approx 2-3 years old, doing funny and well kinda obscene things like hugging  and doing some dance steps I’m sure they saw in some indian film, in front.  Appeared very weird to me … the parents were not bothered though. As you bow so  shall you reap. I remember we were never allowed as kids and immature age (:s) to watch anything similar on tv ever. We never watched; we never knew.

In few minutes time, on our table this guy came and sat with his sister and wife (probably). Even though he was sitting with HIS WIFE, he thought he has every right to stare people around. Highly irritated and annoyed I ignored … that wa sthe only thing I could do with very few vacant seats available :s  I must say eastern men are fulfillingly enriched of this stalking trait in them.  We’ll keep our wives and sisters along but love to stare every possible girl in eye range around. hello, get some life.  And why can’t a woman have guts to say to her man to go and sit in men … when its just family around sounds OK but otherwise .. it’s kinda weird.

To add to the annoyance, a cute looking amyish kind of auntie came smiling all the way from front … I thought she’s giving smiles to someone at back. She stopped in front of me and actually squeezed (in affectionate manner :P) my cheeks.  And smiled and went ahead. Ufff … I went red thinking aunty please Im grown up now. Yes, this is the suffering I’m enduring since childhood… now thanksfully its limited to family only. Extended family actually. Khair .. the first thought that came to my mind was prospective saas’ do such things too. I eyed around for some son of hers too but to no avail :P

Thankfully, the bride and groom ame after few minutes and along came the khana. Both were delicious :)

So  with the khana ending I called up my dad, toook some quick snaps of bride and ran away … walked in my heels. Oh man I love wearing heels … you look so dignified … which is oh-so-difficult-otherwise.

And the other day on mehndi, bored off when I thought of taking some macros of my dupatta and all that … this gal sitting next to me eyed me as if I’ve just landed from Mars :/ People … these people. I gave a weird smile to her only :P

Here goes the lite … so adieu till we meet again ;-)

ShoppinG & Ticket to Hollywood

Posted by mE on Jul 15, 2008

If you are an old reader you may be knowing how much I love and hate shopping at the same time. Its so much fun to go with your sisters and your fave cousins and friends and discuss at length what’s the perfect dress to make. Sik would do or chiffon? which motif to use, thread colours et al.

But if you need to DO ALL THIS alone… argh its totally beyond imagination. And this beyond imagination thing is making me totally nuts. On top of it when you’ve created a  thousand pictures catalogue on your machine’s hard disk of dresses you must make. Wow. What more you need. These are the simple attrocities of shopping. Wait ends not just here.

The striking prices they ask for seemingly no work completely leaves you stunned and dumbfounded for few moments. I know I won’t be able to break-free of this string around me. Ofcourse I’ll be needing some exquisite formal wears later on but well … my heart bleedes naa. When I think these 5 suits and a good enough DSLR I can buy :< Those 6 suits and a ticket to Italy … sigh … SUCH are the attrocities of shopping.

The whining’s apart … prayers for the most difficult task allocated to me … I hate taking dress shopping decisions on my own .. well not even a single mashwara … sigh. Facebook totally rocks BTW … its making such thing easier for me :-)

In the meanwhile I’m totally going crazy at the music and lyrics of Ticket to Hollywood :D Yup I’ve yet not gone mad … but I’m near.

Auna Pona hi sahee … Dil ka konaa hi sahee…

Lota day mera ..Ticket to Hollywood :P

Zameen say do inch upar .. hawaa may chalti hay tuu

shahar kay is maur par jahan tu paas ho .. kahay tu may zindagi bhar rukoon

No No Monseiure No no… itna simple nahin

chal dafaa ho kahiin  o_O

Totally nuts … I feel like singing this aloud :D What lyrics … Its good to be high at times, No? Now the forum is open for ur praises for the song :P

PS: A few lines I stumbled upon, probably you’ll need them :P

  • Did the sun come out or did you just smile at me?
  • Excuse me, I think you have something in your eye. Nope, it’s just a sparkle.
  • I’m feeling kind of insecure right now. Could I have a hug?

Philosophy: Falling in Love

Posted by mE on Jul 11, 2008

When it comes to love, you need not to fall but rather surrender. Surrender to the idea that you must love yourself before you can love another.

You must absolutely trust yourself before you can absolutely trust another and most importantly you must accept your flaws before you can accept the flaws of another.

None of us is perfect; no matter how complete the image may look. Is the mutual trust and then the trust on one’s ownself, in your opinion, is strong enough to uproot the inner desolation? Does it really strengthens or is it just a fad.

In my opinion, it can. Trust and love. Don’t take all matters in your hand - leave a few things to Allah Almighty too. But don’t surrender to every thing either. At least take your due steps.

In the line of love and trust; we live!

^^ Yah may nay kaha hay abhi abhi :P

Fragrance that Lasts: Love

Posted by mE on Jul 08, 2008

Motiyaa … my fave most flower.

Fragrance that Lasts...Probably its in human psyche to associate human touches with fragrances. The sweet and light fragrance of motiyaa reminds me always of my mother.  The purity and sweetness …. and the hidden yet so obvious love :)

There used to be a very huge plant of Motiyaa in our lawn … with heavy dosage of fragrant flowers :~) Ami used to pluck some and would make balay (ear loops) and would wear them. Wow …  that’d make motiyay kay phool even more fragrant and lovely.

Motiyaa is synonymous to ami for me =))

Do you have any associations with flowers? or Fragrances?

And and … I wonder why roses are so popular as show of love … for me it should be Motiyaa … always =)

*hint hint* =P
